It's been almost a year since we haven't written an article about Alienware gaming laptops. And this time we will review one of them again, Alienware m17 R4 AWM17R4-7832WHT-PUS, a big one that deserves to be a desktop replacement.
Alienware m17 R4 is a powerful laptop that and is suitable to run heavy games or handle demanding tasks. It comes with Intel Core i7-10870H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 inside.
Intel Core i7-10870H is a high-end processor with eight cores, clocks between 2.2GHz - 5.0GHz, and 16MB L3 cache.
Meanwhile, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 is a fast desktop graphics card with 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM.
Both hardware above together with 16GB DDR4-2933 RAM can deliver powerful performance to handle everything assigned to it, from basic daily tasks up to high graphic details work. Demanding applications will run smoothly as well. It is also suited for 1080p gaming of modern and demanding games in high settings.

The m17 R4 has a 17.3-inch Full HD display featuring NVIDIA-GSYNC tech. This screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a brightness of 300 nits and a color gamut of 100% sRGB. The refresh rate is 360Hz and the response time is 5ms. With these specifications, it is appropriate that this screen looks clear and is able to present detailed and vivid images with sharp colors. This is great fun for playing games or doing detailed graphics tasks.
The collection of ports is many and varied, located on all sides except the front.
Starting from the right flank, there houses a pair of USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and a microSD card reader. Along the left flank, you’ll find another USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, Killer Networks E3100x Gigabit Ethernet NIC port as well as an audio combo jack. Alienware m17 R4 is a large screen laptop. At 15.7 by 11.6 by 0.9 inches, this laptop weighs 6.6 lbs, making it a bit on the heavy side. This reduces its appeal as a frequent travel companion and we recommend making it a gaming station or desktop replacement.
The battery is a 6-Cell 86WHr Lithium-ion. No further information about battery life. But we think it's not a durable one since this laptop has high specifications, a common thing on gaming laptops. Almost forget, put this laptop close to the power outlet.
Alienware has prepared the AWM17R4-7832WHT-PUS well. They equip this laptop with a high-performance engine and a nice display panel as well as a variety of useful ports. Therefore, it can handle everything seamlessly, be it games or work applications, from simple to demanding.
Because it is quite heavy and quite large in size, we recommend making it a gaming station or desktop replacement.
And the only drawback is that the battery doesn't last long. But it can be understood considering the specifications above.
