ASUS ZenBook Duo UX481FL-XS74T

Come with innovative features, this is ASUS ZenBook Duo UX481FL-XS74T, a dual screen laptop, where the elegant design and powerful performance meet. It is able to handle every task but most suitable for professional graphics design workers.

Performance

ASUS delivers the ZenBook Duo with a 10th Generation Intel Core i7-10510U processor. This Comet Lake CPU features four cores with eight threads (thanks to Hyper-Threading Tech), a range of frequency from 1.80 GHz up to a max of 4.90 GHz when in turbo mode (thanks to Turbo Boost Tech), 8 MB Intel Smart Cache, 15 W TDP and integrated Intel UHD Graphics Card.
The i7-10510U is a match of high-speed and energy-efficient.

ZenBook UX481FL-XS74T also features a discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card with a dedicated 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM. This is an entry-level GPU that is specially designed for laptops.

The system memory is a 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM and not user-upgradeable since it is soldered on-board and no empty slot for upgrading. Meanwhile, the storage space is a 1 TB PCIe G3x4 Solid State Drive that is faster and more reliable compare to the classical HDD. Sadly, it is not user-upgradeable as well.

The laptop runs well since both processing units are score well, and especially because of the capability of CPU. It is able to handle every task, includes the demanding one. Playing games is possible, even for the heavy one, though only at low or medium settings.
The system memory and the SSD also support fast performance. About the capacity of the storage drive, it should be enough as long as you don't have a habit of collecting tons of media files in your SSD.

Display

The innovative part is the fact that ZenBook Duo comes with dual-screen. The first is a standard 14-inch main display, while the secondary is a 12.6-inch ScreenPad on top of the keyboard.

The main display is a 14-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. This matte touchscreen features 99% sRGB, 70% NTSC, LED backlight, and IPS tech that offers impressive images and colors even when viewed from extreme angles.

This ScreenPad has some functionality to optimize your multitasking experience. You can find the details in ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo UX581GV-XB74T review.

Interface Options and Networking

The interface options are ordinary and adequate for works. There is a USB-C but not a Thunderbolt one. But at least we can enjoy high-speed data transfer. This is the list of the interface options:
1 x USB3.1 Type-C Gen 2
1 x USB3.1 Type-A Gen 2
1 x USB3.1 Type-A Gen 1
1 x HDMI
1 x Headphone-out & audio-in Combo Jack
1 x Micro SD card reader

As for networking, ZenBook Duo utilizes the wireless option only by the support of the Intel AX201 module. So, the options are
802.11ax WiFi 6
Bluetooth 5.0

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard space feels narrower compare to others but still provides a decent key travel distance between its chiclet-size buttons.
The backlit keys are a bit clatter when pressed with crisp feedback.
The position of the keyboard makes users need a distance from the laptop to get a more comfortable typing space and for their palm rests as well. It could be tricky when working in tight spaces, such as in airplanes or trains with no tables at all.

[hide]

dual screen laptop

[/hide]

The touchpad is located at the right of the keyboard, right at space where the numeric-pad usually locate. It sizes 2.17 x 2.76 inch, too narrow. The surface is smooth and the physical click buttons are pretty nice. However, it still feels too narrow for work. It would be easier if works with a digital pen or an external mouse if possible.

Related to both things above, there are a detachable palm rest and an ASUS active stylus pen included in this product package.

Web Camera and Speakers

The web camera is at the top of the screen. It is a built-in IR camera for facial recognition sign-in with Windows Hello. Meanwhile, the stereo speakers are located on the bottom sides of the device and produce a pretty good sound quality.

Battery and Portability

The power source inside the ASUS ZenBook Duo is a 4-cell 70Wh Lithium-ion battery pack and the battery life does not disappoint. This 4-cell Lithium-ion can last up to 10-12 hours depends on the setting and usage of a laptop. Playing games, moreover the demanding one, or using ScreenPad will surely drain the battery faster.

This ZenBook Duo has a size of 12.7 x 8.8 x 0.8 inches and a weight of 3.5 lbs, can be said as an ultraportable laptop. Very easy to carry everywhere without feeling heavy.
With its long-life battery, surely this laptop suits to be a companion for work when outdoor or when on the go.

HP Laptop 15-dy1036nr

HP 15-dy1036nr is a 15 inch HP laptop. This is a day to day notebook that comes with amazing features that attract attention, a blend of powerful performance, and elegant design. And all at a fair price.

Performance

HP prepares 15-dy1036nr well. It comes with an Ice Lake processor series, Intel Core i5-1035G1. This 10th generation Intel processor offers strong performance matched with efficiency. It features four cores and eight threads. The range of frequency starts from 1.00 GHz and will raise up to 3.60 GHz when in turbo mode. The system memory is rated 8 GB of DDR4-2666 SDRAM. It is enough for the smoother performance of day to day tasks without any hassle at all.
As for storage option, HP crams a 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 Solid-state Drive for faster and smoother performance. In our opinion, this capacity is quite low and unfortunately not able to upgrade it. Therefore, you need to consider buying an external HDD or an SD Card. The flash drive and cloud storage can be the options as well.

The engine above ensures the HP 15 will easily keep up with your demands on a day to day use. Tasks such as works with MS Office, browse multi-tab on the internet, watching online streaming, will easily handle. While for graphics work, you can only do basic photo and video editing. With the only integrated graphics card, then you can play a few indie games only. Don't expect much for playing AAA games since it is definitely not enough power for that. Yes, this is an everyday laptop, not a gaming one.

Display

This HP laptop features a 15.6-inch Full HD display with WLED-backlit. The resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9. This anti-glare screen has also 45% NTSC, 220 nits, SVA tech.
This panel isn’t quite bright and might experience some difficulties to view the screen when under direct sunlight. And it is not suited for editors, designers, and creative professionals since the low color accuracy. However, it still good for watching Netflix and Youtube.
This screen has thin bezels on both sides, make it has an 82% screen to body ratio. That's why it seems so wide.

Ports, Networking and Others

Jump to the I/O options. The port selection is standard and adequate for work. It has USB Type-C, not a Thunderbolt 3. Sadly, it doesn't support for laptop charging or external monitor, but only data transfer, with a signaling rate of 5 Gb/s. So does USB Type-A that is for data transfer only. This is the I/O options list:
1 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C
2 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A
1 x HDMI 1.4b
1 x headphone/microphone combo
1 x multi-format SD media card reader

The networking utilizes the wireless option only since there is no RJ-45 LAN port. The only options are:
802.11ax 2x2 WiFi6
Bluetooth 5

The keyboard comes with chiclet-size buttons and a numeric pad. It has decent key travel and satisfying tactile feedback. But unhappily, it has not LED backlight.
The trackpad is enough wide, smooth, and support multi-touch gestures.
The stereo speakers are located at top of keyboard, so the sound is clear and loud but we feel it is a bit less on bass.
And the web camera on the top of the display is an HP TrueVision HD Camera. It is integrated with a dual array digital microphone.

Battery and Portability

To support strong performance, HP packs a 3-cell, 41 Wh Lithium-ion battery pack into HP 15. This source power offers a long-lasting up to 10 hours for mixed usage. And for video playback or wireless streaming, it can last up to 8 hours and a half. Of course, it depends on the setting of laptop as well. The brighter the screen, then the battery will drain faster. Power charging is fast enough, up to 50% charge in 45 minutes HP Fast Charge.

Speaking the portability, this laptop is a thin an light one. With a size of 14.11 x 9.53 x 0.71 inches, it seems easily slip into your bag or backpack and doesn't need much space. And it won't burden you since it weighs just 3.75 pounds. You won't feel heavy because of that.

At last..

All and all, there are a lot of positive points in this 15 inch HP laptop that makes the HP 15-dy1036nr becomes a useful day to day laptop. Of course, it has some drawbacks but won't interfere with overall performance.
This laptop suits us to use at home, school, office, or even outdoor works. With a price of $668.00 when this writing, your money gets its significant value.
